Resources

This is the American Optometric Association's website. It has a wealth of information as well as a link to FAQ in Spanish.
This is the site sponsored by the California Optometric Association. It is also quite helpful with a few programs specific to California, such as the CVF, which provides eye exams and glasses to the working poor.
This is the National Institute of Health’s site specifically about eyes ( your tax dollars at work).
This is a site about macular degeneration sponsored by a private foundation. It has lots of good nutritional advice generally,  though I found the specific recipes alarmingly high in fat!
This site seems to have a lot of useful information that isn’t biased, though there are lots of ads floating around the site!

Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in the United States. An alarming statistic that I learned in a recent lecture was that, if current trends continue, for children born after the year 2000, one out of three will develop diabetes (and for Hispanic children, the chance is 50/50!). This is a preventable epidemic! The following sites are filled with information both in English and Spanish (as well other languages in the California Diabetes Program's site).
